Prof. John Da Silva Luiz
John Luiz is Professor of International Management at the University of Sussex, and also at the Graduate School of Business (GSB) at the University of Cape Town, specializing in emerging markets. He has also been a visiting scholar, professor and research fellow at various institutions, including the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and Columbia University in New York amongst others.
Besides winning various teaching awards, John has authored over of 150 publications in leading journals, as well as books. He is a member of various professional bodies and was appointed by the South African Cabinet to the National South African Statistics Council and served from 2013-2018. He is on the Editorial Board of several journals.
John works as a consultant and has undertaken work for various international multilateral agencies, NGOs, multinational corporations, and government agencies.
He has been one of the forefathers of UNSSC’s flagship Leadership, Women and the UN Programme, having been a faculty member since its inception in 2015.
