The United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC) and the UN Development Operations Coordination Office (UN DOCO) have signed a new Partnership Framework Agreement in February 2018. The new agreement seals the collaboration between the two partners with regard to learning and training for the UN Development System in the context of the 2030 Agenda and the UN Secretary General’s reform efforts. Strengthened collaboration will further enhance UNDG policy and programme implementation through sustained and facilitated learning and leadership development programmes.

The new partnership agreement is a response to the latest report of the Secretary-General on Repositioning the UN Development System which outlines the need for a new generation of UN Country Teams. The report also emphasizes the need for impartial, independent, and empowered Resident Coordinators who act as sustainable development champions. The joint learning and training initiatives will address the various approaches and substantive issues needed to enhance UN Country Team’s capacities to act as brokers and facilitators in supporting countries as they define country contextual responses to implementing the 2030 Agenda.
