The third edition of the ILO Executive Leadership and Strategic Management Programme was held in mid-January in Turin at the UN Campus. The ILO Director-General, Mr. Guy Ryder, UNSSC and ITCILO welcomed 33 senior ILO participants from across the organization with the goal to discuss and respond to the strategic priority of ‚"an effective, influential and high-performance ILO."

The one-week programme addressed the challenges of leading teams and change, influence and communication, innovation and impact in view of the ILO’s specific mandate and its unique tripartite structure.

The final day focused on the 2030 development agenda and the role of the ILO within the context of SDGs. Dr. Jafar Javan, Director of UNSSC, contributed to a panel discussion on the alignment between education and employment as well as the ILO’s role in raising employment levels. He concluded:

"In order to be more effective, the UN should stop working inside silos and approach the tackling of the 2015 agenda in a coordinated, systemic way."
