The partner organizations behind the UN SDG: Learn platform committed in November to co-designing and co-delivering joint learning initiatives to promote integrated learning support to countries, as part of a continuing effort to bring relevant and curated learning solutions on sustainable development to individuals and organizations.

In its First Steering Group Meeting held Geneva, Nikhil Seth, UNITAR Executive Director, emphasized during the Steering Group meeting the importance of learning for the achievement of the SDGs. “We need a platform that provides access to an interactive learning experience that makes SDG learning attractive and that involves more people.”

UN SDG:Learn offers its users an easily accessible platform that features courses and microlearning on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The platform provides smart navigation through a growing array of learning solutions on sustainable development. UNITAR and UNSSC serve as the Joint Secretariat of the UN SDG:Learn initiative, which now has 51 partner organizations.

Patrick van Weerelt, Head of Office at UNSSC’s Knowledge Centre for Sustainable Development, said: “As we embark on a decisive decade for the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, UN SDG:Learn’s ambition is to serve as a platform to engage all stakeholder groups in developing learning solutions, building effective partnerships, and accelerating action. It is important to see UN agencies, universities, think tanks, civil society organizations, and the private sector supporting UN SDG:Learn as a partner. Through purposeful collaboration, we can achieve the transformation towards a more sustainable world.”

The Second Steering Group Meeting will take place in Fall 2020 in Bonn. Please contact joint.secretariat@unsdglearn.org for more information.
