The world is changing at a fast pace, and the UN needs to help shape and drive ongoing transformations so they can lead towards a more sustainable, equitable and peaceful world. How can it do so, and what kind of internal capacities are needed to best support countries and people on their pathway? In the second session of our "UN Transformation Series," titled "Harnessing Capacities for Global Change," we explore the pressing need for new skills, mindsets, and knowledge in today's ever-evolving and increasingly complex landscape.

This session will set out the big picture of ongoing transformations and current trends in the 21st century. It will also look at the imperative for capacity development as a necessary lever to drive sustainability transformations, as discussed in the Global Sustainable Development Report (GSDR) 2023. Against this background, the session will discuss what it takes for the UN to better support changes in line with the vision of the 2030 Agenda and to build a future-ready UN system (UN 2.0).

Join us alongside thought leaders Ambuj Sagar, Deputy Director of Strategy & Planning at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi; David Passarelli, Director of United Nations University's Centre for Policy Research (UNU-CPR); and Susana Sottoli, Regional Director at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

Together, we will explore the complexities of today's challenges and identify how UN colleagues can best orient themselves to support countries and societies.
