Lack of road safety is consistently acknowledged as one of the highest risks to aid workers throughout the world, and the cause of a high number of civilian casualties. The Road Safety Management course will enable participants from UN and associated organizations to effectively develop and manage road safety actions.

Course Methodology

Course Methodology: 

The Road Safety Management course uses a blended learning methodology that includes self-paced and facilitated webinars. The 3-week course includes two 1.5 hour online sessions per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The maximum number per webinar will be six learners to ensure adequate opportunity for engagement during these sessions.

Learners are encouraged throughout the course to engage in critical self-reflection to support experiential learning and behaviour change. Knowledge, skills and attitude competencies will be conveyed to learners through the following methods:

  • Case studies. Learners will use real-life case studies to increase their knowledge and skills.
  • Interactive discussions. Best practices will be examined using the case studies as an analytical lens.
  • Self-reflection. Learners will be encouraged throughout the course to engage in self-reflection to maximize experiential learning. This is accomplished through formative discussions, learning diaries and dynamic feedback sessions during and after practical and problem-based learning activities.


  • Formative evaluation will be conducted throughout the course to provide feedback, encourage honest self-assessment and highlight experiential learning opportunities.
  • Summative Evaluation is conducted through the presentation of an action plan to address the problems identified through assigned case studies.
  • Following the completion of the training course, participants are evaluated to ensure they are using the skills and knowledge learned.


  • This course enables participants to independently develop, implement and evaluate road safety management actions, policies and interventions. 
  • Participants will receive on-going support and access to communities of practice

Cost of participation: 

The course fee of $500 covers the three-week course, training and facilitation services as well as course materials. Please note that a minimum number of six participants are required to conduct this course.
