The inaugural webinar of the UNSSC “UN Transformation Series" explores the critical aspects of organizational change within the UN system against the backdrop of evolving global shifts and dynamics. As we navigate the complexities of the 21st century, the UN must not only adapt but transform in order to maximize its impact and provide better support to member states, in line with the Secretary-General’s vision for a UN 2.0 and in support of the 2030 Agenda.

Building on unique insights from the first State of Change Management in the UN System report, the webinar features senior UN leaders reflecting on necessary and ongoing changes for a more efficient and effective UN response to better support people and planet.

Questions addressed, amongst others, include: What are the most difficult challenges for the UN to adapt to; what is the UN’s capacity for change; what enables or constrains profound changes in UN organizations and how can barriers be overcome; and what dilemmas emerge when embarking on change processes?

The webinar kickstarts a conversation on the evolution of change leadership capacities, and ways of working needed to advance the 2030 Agenda and future goal-based frameworks. It underscores the importance of UN organizations embracing forward-thinking cultures and acquiring cutting-edge skills, aligning with the vision of UN 2.0 for a more impactful United Nations system. The session will particularly emphasize elements of change leadership, aiming to foster continued exchange and learning within and beyond the UN system.
