End of Year Live Event | Learn and Share: S.P.A.C.E. for Innovation at the UN 

With ongoing shifts in society, the economy, climate, emerging technologies, and evolving perspectives and work methods, innovation is essential. Dedicated individuals, teams, and units throughout the United Nations (UN) System have embraced the importance of innovation in their daily routines, investing time and cultivating new perspectives to enable them to do things differently. Now, more than ever, the sharing of knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned on integration is paramount. 

UNSSC is thrilled to be co-creating the 2023 End-of-Year Event “Learn and Share: S.P.A.C.E. for Innovation at the UN”, with our valuable partners. Seven UN agencies are coming together to encourage dialogue and foster engagement in the field of innovation, centered around the utilization of the United Nations Innovation Toolkit (UNIT) and its S.P.A.C.E. framework. 

Building on last year's success, our partners will celebrate the endeavors of fellow innovators and exchange valuable best practices and lessons learnt.  

Innovation champions from across our UN partner system will share their experiences in alignment with the UN Innovation Toolkit, especially how it's different tools and elements can support the UN System to engage in the disruptive journey of innovation.   

• Marked as a key resource in the 2023 UN 2.0 Policy Brief, The UN Innovation Toolkit was generated around the S.P.A.C.E. framework, five key pillars identified as critical for sustained, scoped and systematic innovation in the UN context: Strategy; Partnerships; Architecture, Culture and Evaluation.   
• In this way, each innovation champion will focus on one of the pillars to share how it has contributed to or influenced their area of innovation.  
• Each pillar will feature three to five innovation champions from each of the participating UN entities, that will share their experiences as well as engage in conversations and discussions around the same pillar with participants.   

The event will take place on Tuesday 5 December 2023, 15:00-17:00 pm CET, on Zoom.  

In their opening remarks, innovation leaders from across the UN will give a brief introduction on how they conduct their internal Innovation Challenges to foster innovation and where their champions come from. This event aspires to enhance the collaborative discourse around innovation, by recognizing the distinct contextualization of innovation within different realities, by Innovation Champions in versatile fields, across the S.P.A.C.E framework.
